February 16, 2016 an IND was opened for clinical trials of MRX2843 (UNC2371) in patients with solid tumors. On March 1, 2016 a patent was issued for UNC2371 (MRX2843 as licensed to Meryx Inc., http://meryxpharma.com/home). The inventors Xiaodong Wang, Jing Liu, Weihe Zhang, Stephen Frye and Dmitri Kireev discovered the compound through a structure-based drug design approach. They believe that this investigational new drug will give hope to certain cancer patients.
