Samantha Pattenden has led a team of UNC scientists to a successful Institutional Development Grant application from the North Carolina Biotechnology Center for the project Advanced Acoustic Sonication for High Throughput Nucleic Acid Fragmentation, Biospecimen Processing, and Drug Discovery.   The award will fund the purchase of a Covaris LE220 Focused Ultrasonicator, which will be available at the Center for Integrative Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery for multi-lab use.  Major scientific contributors to this project include: Ian Davis, Associate Professor, Departments of Genetics and Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center; Paul Dayton, Professor, UNC and NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering; Nate Hathaway, Assistant Professor, CICBDD, Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry, Eshelman School of Pharmacy; Samantha Pattenden, Research Assistant Professor, CICBDD, Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry, Eshelman School of Pharmacy; Greg Wang, Assistant Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center; and Yue Xiong, Professor, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.  Matching funds were generously provided by: The School of Medicine Research, Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry, UNC, NC State Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics.
